At an annual fee, FUSION contracts its case management services to the YWCA of South King County. This provides each woman living in a FUSION unit a professionally-trained advocate who can help them best use the valuable time (beyond a year when needed) in the unit to complete necessary retraining, while accumulating basic assets, and patterning a new life style. These are crucial aspects of a family's successful transition. FUSION has a consistent and unusually high percentage of families successfully moving on to permanent housing A YWCA case manager is assigned to each client and works with her throughout her stay in FUSION housing, meeting with the family weekly. They assist the mother in learning about, applying for, and effectively using the resources available to her. One of the most important is training for job skills that will eventually support the family. Additional services could range from child care to applying for food stamps or medical aid; referrals to medical or counseling aid, and everything from budgeting and education, to finding clothing and materials which eventually lead to being self sufficient. FUSION relies on the continued support and partnership of the community to maintain the necessary funding for this worthy and much needed project:
The "fusion" of community efforts is critical to our success. We are truly, friends united in serving these families as they work towards becoming self-sufficient.
